Job 42:2 “I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted.”
In that sacred space of the delivery room, ready to meet my firstborn son, I was exhausted and overwhelmed. I cannot do this.
In that moment, I locked eyes with my own mama. You can do this. She’s been on the other side of delivery before and from that, I drew strength.
That’s our God. He came to experience all things. To overcome them. To see through to the other side, then to lock eyes with us and say, “You can do this. Draw strength from me.”
We don’t have to be able to do all things. He can do all things, and this is what Job spoke about when he spoke these words. God’s purposes for you cannot be stopped. Victory has the final word. Thwarted means opposed successfully- It doesn’t mean we won’t be opposed; but it does means we will overcome IT when surrendered to the hands of God. It doesn’t mean weapons won’t be formed against us, but it does mean they won’t prosper.
He can do all things. He can bring the healing your heart needs, or provide the breakthrough you’ve longed for. He breathes life where dry bones live. It’s who He is. Nothing can prevent God from accomplishing His purposes for your life.
Does it require laboring? Surely. But ultimately, delivery is inevitable. Delivery on all He’s promised you.
So lock eyes, sis. You can do this.
Reflection Questions:
1. How would your prayers change if you prayed from a perspective that nothing can prevent the purposes God has for you?
2. Do you feel like you must do “it” in your own strength? Why do you think that is?
3. What would you boldly pursue if you believed no purpose of God’s could be thwarted?
4. What have you been trying to accomplish in your own strength? What area of your life could you lock eyes with our savior for the strength that you need?
